Sustainability

ENDESA is the electric utility that contributes most to ensuring the coverage of electricity demand in Spain. Energy is vital to economic activity and to society. This means that energy consumption must continue to grow in an efficient and responsible manner. However, the generation, transformation and use of energy have undesired but inevitable effects on society as a whole and the environment. For this reason, it is important to study how energy generation affects the three aspects of sustainable development, in other words its economic, environmental and social aspects.

Economic aspects

ENDESA plays a key role in ensuring that the countries where it operates are equipped with balanced and diversified energy generation and distribution infrastructures.
Given the scale of the Company's operations and the direct and indirect wealth they generate, ENDESA's activities are a significant factor in the economy.

Environmental aspects

ENDESA aims to provide reliable and quality service, ever conscious of the fact that the exercise of its activities inevitably affects the environment.
By taking these factors into consideration and applying technologies that allow for optimum use of scarce local resources, the Company is able to satisfy market demand while at the same time contributing to the stability and development of the communities where it is present.

Social aspects

The generation and supply of energy is an activity of vital importance, since it is a basic requirement for the development and well-being of individuals and communities. This is a social reality of which ENDESA is fully aware. Accordingly, the Company not only strives to carry out its business in a manner that is respectful of the environment, but it also seeks to contribute to the development of the communities where it is active.
